Why Will Smith Apologizes to Chris Rock’s Mother

The actor, at last, spoke up about the Chris Rock altercation at the Academy Awards.

Will Smith is not only feeling guilty for Chris Rock’s infamous punch at the 2022 Academy Awards, but he is also telling sorry to Rock’s mom.

After months of media silence, the actor from King Richard addressed the subject in a new YouTube video titled “It’s been a minute…” published on Friday, July 29. During the nearly 6-minute explanation, he took the chance to address Rock’s mother personally.

What Chris Rocks Mom Said

After the dramatic Oscars slap, Rock’s mom, Rose, revealed to WIS, “When he hit Chris, he hit us all. “He actually hit me,”

“No one listened to his Oscar-winning speech at all,” “She persisted. “Nobody was able to simply enjoy the event because everybody was thinking, “What just occurred?”

She revealed at the moment that she had called on her son after the event and praised him for his poised response to the assault. However, she criticized Smith for only apologizing to Rock openly instead of privately.

Smith Reaction in the New Video

Smith claimed in the latest apologetic clip that he has sought out personally to Rock, who told him he is not prepared to talk about the matter at this time.

After apologizing to Rock and his mom, Smith apologized to Rock’s brother Tony Rock, with whom he asserts to have had a “good relationship.”

“Tony Rock had been my man,” he stated, adding, “This situation is likely irreversible.”

Smith proceeded in the video, “I spent the past three months rewinding and comprehending the nuances and difficulty of what transpired in that instant.” “I won’t attempt to unravel all of that now, but I can assure you that there’s no part of myself that thinks that was the acceptable manner of conduct in that second.”

After apologizing to his own family members, Smith made a point of apologizing to the nominations whose Oscar memories went unnoticed due to the incident, such as Best Actress nominees Jessica Chastain and the team CODA for the best picture nominations.
