Warren has now apologised for the contentious posting on social media.

The lyricist apologised on Tweet, writing, "Okay, I didn't mean to offend @Beyonce.

that I've started working with and respect I apologise for any confusion."

Warren sparked the controversy by posting on twitter, "How are there 24 authors on a song?"

Many assumed this was making reference to Beyoncé's song "Alien Superstar." ”

on her latest album Renaissance, which gives credit to many of the authors of music sampled in the song.

Beyoncé's fan base were outraged by this twitter post.

Everyone else saw the inquiry as legitimate and clarified the R&B performer's use of sampling.
