Dave Chappelle's show has been cancelled due to the transgender funny controversy.

The Minnesota venue, First Avenue, apologised for booking him and said the show would be moved to another theatre.

Chappelle has received both widespread praise and harsh criticism for his recent stand-up routines that included jokes about transgender people.

First Avenue stated that it must adhere to "the highest standards." Chappelle has yet to react.

Chappelle's live shows and TV special deals, as well as the platforms that host them,

...are frequently criticised for comments he has made in previous routines that some viewers find offensive.

First Avenue stated on Instagram, "To staff, artists, and our community, we hear you and we are sorry."

We understand that we must hold ourselves to the best standard, and we regret that we have let you down.

"We are not just a black box with people in it, and we recognise that First Avenue is much more than a room; it has simply means beyond our walls."

"The First Avenue team and you have worked very hard to make our venues the healthiest in the nation, and we will continue with that mission."
