Amazon put $3.49 billion into healthcare. One Medical Offer

Amazon.com Inc agreed to buy primary care provider One Medical for $3.49 billion on Thursday.

The e-commerce behemoth is extending its virtual care presence and joining some Brick and mortar doctor's clinics to its healthcare arsenal.

The all-cash transaction marks a significant expansion of Amazon's healthcare goals,

...which began with virtual care visits for Amazon employees in Seattle in 2019 before

...scaling to other organizations and cities under the Amazon Care brand.

It also purchased the online pharmacy Pill Pack in 2018 and has teamed with

...Teladoc Health to allow Alexa communicate with doctors electronically.

"We trust healthcare is at the top of a list of experiences that need to be restarted," said Neil Lindsay,

...senior vice president of Amazon Health Care services.
